Princess Diana has been honored on postage stamps from around the world. Not only in Great Britain, but also in countries like Cambodia, Korea, and Somalia, special stamps have been created that cover nearly her entire life. There are very few aspects of this young royal’s life that were not captured in photographs that became stamps. Souvenir sheets of stamps were created to display her wedding, as well as the birth of the royal heirs. Sadly, even the memorial of her death in 1997 was brought forth postage stamp honors.
Diana Spencer was expected to live the fairy tale life and eventually become the next queen of England. That does not happen with every generation, so it is perfectly expected that commemoratory stamps would be created for collectors around the world. The majority of these stamps were never created in volumes that would have denoted routine daily postage. Had life turned out more in-line with the starting dream, the new king and queen of England would surely have been placed upon stamps around the world.
During Princess Diana’s life in the royal family, there were no doubt postcards generated for visitors to the country to treasure. Charles and Diana were prime candidates for postcards, as very little in their lives went unnoticed by the people of the world. The youth and openness that Diana shared with those outside the royal family became well noted and pictures were taken of her in every possible realm. Postcards of the young heirs were popular also, but, at least until William began to age, Diana was by far the most favorite and loved royal in the world. All the stamps and postcards that were created in her honor support that.
