If you are a stamp collector, you more than likely own all the John F. Kennedy stamps, in which there are many. They include photos of him with his wife and children, to photos of him when he was a PT Boat Commander. Have you kept up to date on their value? For instance, do you know what a John F. Kennedy 13 cent stamp is worth today, or a five cent stamp?
According to witi.answers.com, any stamp is worth at least 20 cents, which is the minimum amount required to catalog and stock a stamp. However, if it is unused, the value can increase to at least its face value plus the 20 cent cost of cataloging it. The John F. Kennedy 13 cent stamp (cataloged as Scott #1287), can be bought from a dealer for 30 cents if it is in mint condition. The John F. Kennedy five cent stamp, on the other hand, (cataloged as Scott #1246), will cost you about 75 cents if it is in mint condition or unused.
That information does not include the value that collectors put on these stamps. Collectors will sometimes buy a set of Kennedy stamps to add to their collection just to get one of that set. These sets can cost anywhere from 6.50 to 20.00 dollars depending on the condition of the stamps and how many are in the set. For instance, one set of four Kennedy stamps are selling for 19.95 on the internet, and a different set of four Kennedy stamps is selling for 7.95. How much one will pay for a Kennedy stamp depends on whether it is one of your favorite stamps in addition to its condition.
